Aural Sculptors - The Stranglers Live 1976 to the Present

Welcome to Aural Sculptors, a blog aimed at bringing the music of The Stranglers to as wide an audience as possible. Whilst all of the various members of the band that have passed through the ranks since 1974 are accomplished studio musicians, it is on stage where the band have for me had their biggest impact.

As a collector of their live recordings for many years I want to share some of the better quality material with other fans. By selecting the higher quality recordings I hope to present The Stranglers in the best possible light for the benefit of those less familiar with their material than the hardcore fan.

Needless to say, this site will steer well clear of any officially released material. As well as live gigs, I will post demos, radio interviews and anything else that I feel may be of interest.

In addition, occasionally I will post material by other bands, related or otherwise, that mean a lot to me.

Your comments and/or contributions are most welcome. Please email me at adrianandrews@myyahoo.com.

20 From '81(9) A Flock Of Seagulls John Peel Session 12th May 1981

And whilst we are on the topic of wayward images here's another in the recently neglected '20 From' series. Liverpool's Flock Of Seagulls enjoyed some success in the UK in the early 1980's before decamping to the US. Perhaps too much attention to Mike Score's barnet detracted from the music, but I thought that they were alright. The first album had some great tracks on it.

  1. Of the sixteen posts that I made in February ten had gig files attached to them... of those ten no less than seven were Stranglers or Stranglers related (i.e. Hugh Cornwell) recordings. That's not a bad hit rate.

In the 12 years that I have maintained this site there have been 1,971 posts of which 746 have been Stranglers related. As much of a fan of the band as I am if I just stuck to The Stranglers, and I know that technically this site is a Stranglers related site but I would have died of boredom and this site would have expired with me if it were about no other band too.

first album very solid, paul reynolds a great guitarist and for al the ridicule of the day (flock of haircuts) they could play and get a bit noisy playing late night at the clubs.
    thanks for this.
