Aural Sculptors - The Stranglers Live 1976 to the Present

Welcome to Aural Sculptors, a blog aimed at bringing the music of The Stranglers to as wide an audience as possible. Whilst all of the various members of the band that have passed through the ranks since 1974 are accomplished studio musicians, it is on stage where the band have for me had their biggest impact.

As a collector of their live recordings for many years I want to share some of the better quality material with other fans. By selecting the higher quality recordings I hope to present The Stranglers in the best possible light for the benefit of those less familiar with their material than the hardcore fan.

Needless to say, this site will steer well clear of any officially released material. As well as live gigs, I will post demos, radio interviews and anything else that I feel may be of interest.

In addition, occasionally I will post material by other bands, related or otherwise, that mean a lot to me.

Your comments and/or contributions are most welcome. Please email me at adrianandrews@myyahoo.com.

The Undertones Stortfest 2015

Paul's set list
The Undertones at Stortfest

It's not everyday that you get to see one of your favourite band's playing five minutes from your front door.... well maybe that's so in London, but it's a novelty here in Hertfordshire. And not only on the doorstep but on our kid's school playing fields! The wonderful Undertones came to Bishops Stortford last weekend to close the annual Stortfest.

The Undertones are a band that just make you smile, oh and bellow along until you are hoarse! The medium sized marquee was leaking bodies at the seems as stage time approached, but somehow that 'get to the front' technique worked again and the entire Andrews family found themselves on the barrier. Actually the front was relatively uncrowded (at least where we were located in front of Damian). And so the band ambled on to deliver a blistering set (see photo). No 'There Goes Norman' (always a favourite of mine) but hey, no complaints from me! The band were on great form with the songs punctuated by the easy banter of Mr Bradley, this evening resplendent in a red harrington (who ever said that The Undertones lacked style!).

Here's a great montage of the band (not mine sadly but complete with Gunta and the back of Ramona's head in view during 'Girls Don't Like It').

The footage says more about the gig than I can in words!
